Photos
It is recommended to provide photos no more than 3 months old for children and adolescent patients; and no more than 6 months old for an adult patient.
A gallery or individual set of photos are accepted for LightForce Treatment.
Extraoral Images
For LightForce we need all 3 standard photos (smile, no-smile, & profile)
Smile photo: used to view the gingival and incisal display in deep/open bite cases to give the treatment planner information on which arch needs to be intruded & extruded, treatment planners also use this photo to review the dental & facial midline relationship.
Quick Tip: Ask the patient to say the letter “E” when they smile, this should give the technician the exact amount of gingival display and lip placement needed for diagnostic records.
Non-Smile & Profile photo: used to view the Soft tissue, lip position, & improve patient's profile by retracting or proclining teeth.
Note: Long hair should be pulled back or tucked behind the ears, hats and glasses should be removed. Make sure the patient's head is straight and there is no head tilt.
Intraoral Images
LightForce uses these photos along with the intraoral scan to review the patient's dental midline, and canine/molar relationship. As well as evaluation for crossbite alignment, overbite and overjet, tooth morphologies, extraction space and crowns, interproximal contacts, initial arch shape, and more. This information will help the LightForce treatment planners create the best possible LightPlan for your patient.
For LightForce we need all 5 standard photos (frontal, Left and right buccal, upper and lower occlusal).
Anterior Photos: Focus on the central teeth and make sure the patient's cheeks are pulled away from the posterior teeth for the technician and doctor to see clearly into the buccal corridor. Make sure the photo is straight on and even with the occlusal plane.
Buccal Images: Upper and lower teeth should be biting together in the patient's normal occlusion. Make sure to at least capture the distal of the first molars.
Occlusal Images: Try not to leave any teeth out of the photo and keep the patient's nose out of the upper occlusal photo. Occlusal mirrors should be clear of scratches and fog. When cropping or capturing the photo, make sure to include the facial surface of anterior teeth, buccal surface of molars, and distal of the patient's first molars.
Radiographs
Radiographs are important for LightPlan setups to ensure we have the right information including root parallelism, implants, and missing/additional teeth in a panorex, and inclination of anterior teeth in a cephalometric x-ray. It is recommended to provide radiographs no more than 6 months.
Not severely under/over-exposed, & appropriate contrast.
Jewelry removed before exposure.
Not too small or blurry.
Please Note: No screenshots of a CBCT anterior view.
A panorex & cephalometric x-ray are accepted for LightForce Treatment.
Intraoral Scans
Scan Requirements:
Clean teeth before scanning to avoid scanning plaque or food debris.
Scanning at least 2-3 mm of gingiva.
No Holes or Saliva Bubbles.
Remove Bands, Brackets, & Aligner Attachments.
No lip, cheek, or gloves.
Ensure the patient is biting correctly with no posturing.
Distal wall of the terminal teeth.
Mesial and distal interproximal anatomy.
The complete incisal / occlusal surfaces of both mandible and maxilla.
Accurate bite with the patient in centric occlusion, if there is a slide to central occlusion please notify the LightForce team in the TX Strategy.
Quick Tip: When scanning the bite, ask the patient to put their tongue to the roof of their mouth and bite down. This will ensure the patient is giving the technician the correct bite for records.
All High Quality .STL files are accepted for LightForce Treatment.
